Iran Foreign Minister to Address UN Human Rights Council on Iran-Israel War

Geneva: Iran’s foreign minister will address the UN Human Rights Council on Friday on the sidelines of talks with European counterparts aiming for a diplomatic solution to the Iran-Israel war. Abbas Araghchi “will intervene in person… at the beginning of the council’s afternoon meeting” at 1300 GMT, after which the council will resume its normal programme, Pascal Sim, spokesman for the UN’s top rights body, told a press briefing.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the address by Iran’s foreign minister is set against the backdrop of ongoing discussions with European officials. The focus of these talks is to find a diplomatic path forward in resolving the conflict between Iran and Israel. The intervention by Abbas Araghchi is anticipated to play a significant role in shaping the dialogue at the council meeting.

The UN Human Rights Council meeting will continue with its scheduled agenda following the minister’s intervention. The council aims to address pressing human rights issues, with the Iran-Israel conflict being a key point of concern in the current geopolitical climate.
