Beirut: Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi has ruled out a quick resumption of talks with the United States after President Donald Trump said US negotiations with Tehran could restart as early as this week. Araghchi’s comments were made during an appearance on CBS Evening News on Monday.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Araghchi’s statement coincided with a call from the foreign ministers of the G7 for dialogue on a deal to curb Iran’s nuclear programme. This development followed recent tensions, as Iran and the US were engaged in discussions about Tehran’s nuclear agenda when Israel initiated attacks on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure.
The situation escalated when the US joined Israel in these attacks, targeting significant Iranian sites such as Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 21. These events have further complicated the prospects for immediate talks between Tehran and Washington.
