Iran Rejects Diplomatic Restraints Amid Rising Tensions with Germany

Tehran:Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that Iran will no longer adhere to any diplomatic “red lines,” in response to statements made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Araghchi made these remarks in a post on his X account, criticizing Merz for allegedly supporting U.S. and Israeli airstrikes against Iran the previous year. Araghchi accused the German Chancellor of describing these attacks as executing Europe’s "dirty work."

He further stated that Iran's armed forces would deliver a decisive response to any party that dares to violate Iranian sovereignty, equating this response to the magnitude of 100 billion euros. Araghchi emphasized that Tehran would no longer recognize any diplomatic boundaries.

Previously, Chancellor Merz had urged all parties involved in the ongoing conflict to prioritize diplomatic solutions. This call for diplomacy came at the conclusion of his visit to South Korea, amidst speculations of potential renewed U.S. strikes against Iran. Merz expressed that a military resolution was not viable and encouraged strengthening diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict promptly.

Merz also pointed out the economic impact of the conflict on Europe, noting Germany's crucial economic interests in resolving the crisis. He mentioned that the rising energy prices due to the conflict had already inflicted costs exceeding 100 billion euros on Europe.
