IRAQ: MORE THAN 500 CASES OF SUFFOCATION DUE TO DUST STORMS

Today, Saturday, the Iraqi Ministry of Health announced that more than 500 people suffocated as a result of the dust storm that hit the country on Friday, according to “Novosti” news agency.

The spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Health, Saif Al-Badr, said that “the institutions of the Ministry of Health in Baghdad and other governorates received more than 515 cases of suffocation, as a result of the dust storm that occurred in several regions of the country on Friday,” noting that “the cases of the injured are different.”

He added, “The necessary health care has been provided to them, and their health condition is being monitored, under the supervision of Health Minister Saleh al-Hasnawi, and ambulances are on alert to avoid any problems.”

He pointed out that “the majority of the injured have left hospitals,” stressing that “no deaths were recorded among the citizens.”
