Beirut: The Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and Worldwide, Mar Paulus III Nona, presided over a celebratory Mass at the Cathedral of the Archangel Raphael in Baabda-Brazilia this morning. The Mass marked his visit to Lebanon and was attended by Information Minister, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, representing President Joseph Aoun. The event also saw the presence of senior Catholic and Orthodox clergy, church representatives, and a crowd of believers.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, in his homily, Patriarch Nona emphasized that conflicts are an undeniable evil that Christians must confront through faith, humanity, and social responsibility rather than becoming consumed by debates over their origins or political motives. He highlighted the adverse effects of wars, including death, displacement, and widespread suffering, urging believers to focus on overcoming evil instead of fueling emotional or unsubstantiated narratives.

"As Christian believers, we must know how to deal with these conflicts and their consequences, which are undoubtedly evil. There are people who die in wars...There are people who suffer and are displaced...And there are people whose work and livelihoods are affected, and who are burdened by the consequences of these conflicts on every level....As Christians, we must try our best to get rid of conflicts in a way that is correct from a religious, human, and social perspective, and not be swept away by emotions and these fervent feelings which are often unfounded," the Patriarch affirmed.

"Because we are children of God and brothers of Jesus, we stand against evil," Patriarch Nona underscored, calling for the combating and elimination of evil and staying away from being drawn into conflict narratives.
