Beirut: Justice Minister Adel Nassar declared that no political party has the authority to impose its will on the state or dictate terms, emphasizing that the decision to restrict access to weapons is final. He asserted that there is no room for compromise on this matter and its implementation.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Nassar, in an interview with Al-Arabiya Channel, mentioned ongoing communication with the Bulgarian ambassador concerning the arrest of ship owner Rousos, ensuring that necessary logistical coordination to expedite the investigation is in progress.
Regarding the matter of detained Syrians, Nassar noted the possibility of an agreement between the two countries. He mentioned that three judges in Damascus are awaiting a second anticipated meeting in Beirut. On the subject of Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons, he highlighted the Lebanese people’s right to know the fate of their sons and expressed that the Syrian side is keen on addressing this issue through a legal framework agreement.
Nassar condemned kidnapping, whether of Lebanese citizens or non-Lebanese nationals, as a reprehensible act and assured that the Lebanese state is making every effort to secure the release of all detainees. In reference to the case of Hannibal Gaddafi, the Justice Minister shared that a bail application has been submitted by Gaddafi’s lawyer and is currently with the investigating judge for a decision.
In response to statements by Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, Nassar reiterated that no political party has the right to act on behalf of the people. He emphasized that Hezbollah should serve the state and has no right to engage with foreign countries or impose its will or conditions on the state.
