Amman: In a meeting held Thursday in Deir Alla district, Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) discussed mechanisms for developing Jordan Valley region. According to a Ministry of Water statement, JVA Secretary-General, Hisham Heisah, stressed the importance of working to develop the Jordan Valley and achieve "comprehensive sustainable" development and environmental protection by implementing all necessary measures for this purpose. Heisah also called on dealing with demands of citizens and farmers with the "highest" degree of responsibility and creating a "qualitative" shift in the level of services. Heisah noted development in Jordan Valley is an "organizational" process that takes place under partnership with the region's municipalities, government departments, civil society and the private sector. On future steps,he called for establishing an infrastructure that serves agricultural units and regulates this process to create job opportunities for the region's people. Source: Jordan News Agency
