Kataeb Party Criticizes Hezbollah for Intimidation and Disruption

Beirut: The Lebanese Kataeb Party has strongly condemned Hezbollah’s recent actions, accusing the group of intimidating civilians, disrupting public order, and directly challenging state authority.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the party issued a statement on Sunday criticizing Hezbollah for its “deliberate confrontation with the Lebanese people,” highlighting incidents such as roadblocks, attacks on legitimate security forces, and aggression against UNIFIL peacekeepers.

The statement explained that Hezbollah continues to confront the Lebanese people by intimidating them, blocking roads, attacking legitimate security forces, and targeting UNIFIL. Furthermore, it accused Hezbollah of provocative displays of defiance and accusations of treason in an attempt to reinstate dynamics that have collapsed.

The Kataeb Party warned that Hezbollah’s actions send a troubling message both domestically and internationally. It argued that Hezbollah is squandering the opportunity for reintegration that local political forces are offering, despite the suffering the group has inflicted on Lebanon. The party also raised concerns about the message being projected to the international community, which is monitoring Lebanon’s stability for future engagement.

Additionally, the party accused Hezbollah leadership of orchestrating these disturbances, claiming that the actions are a deliberate decision by Hezbollah leaders who participated in the demonstrations, fueling incitement and confrontation.

The statement expressed astonishment at Hezbollah security official Wafiq Safa’s recent disavowal of the riots that erupted on the airport road, calling it a security maneuver that no longer fools anyone. Kataeb emphasized that Hezbollah must adhere to its commitments under the ceasefire agreement to maintain Lebanon’s stability.

The statement reaffirmed Kataeb’s support for Lebanon’s legitimate security institutions, particularly the Lebanese Army, tasked with maintaining order. The party stressed that they will not allow Hezbollah to obstruct the new presidential term or the government’s work, as the Lebanese people will not compromise on their security and stability.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the party’s full support for the Lebanese Army and security forces, emphasizing the clear and firm decision from the President and the government that there will be no leniency toward violations of the law or threats to Lebanon’s civil peace.
