Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil received this Wednesday in his office Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, with talks reportedly touching on most recent developments in north Syria and the Turkish military operation.
Ambassador Zasypkin informed Minister Bassil of his country’s support for Lebanon’s stance on Syria at the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Arab League in terms of its return to the League.
Zasypkin said his country will exert efforts in this course.
Minister Bassil also met with the Ambassador of Cyprus to Lebanon, Cypriot Ambassador to Lebanon Panayiotis Kyriacou, on a protocol visit, during which Bassil thanked the Ambassador for Cypriot assistance to extinguish the recent unruly fires.
On the other hand, Bassil met head of the “Tawheed” Party head Weam Wahhab, who hailed his recent stances on Syria.
Wahhab said there is a Lebanese interest in the return of the displaced Syrians to their homeland.
