RAHI, SHOUKRY SEE EYE-TO-EYE ON PRESSING NEED TO EXPEDITE CABINET FORMATION, PAVE WAY FOR FOREIGN SUPPORT

NNA – Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, on Wednesday welcomed visiting Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry.

At the outset of the meeting, Minister Shoukry conveyed to the Patriarch “the greetings of His Excellency, Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.”

Both men later discussed the historical Egyptian-Lebanese relations, as well as the most recent developments on the Lebanese scene.

For his part, Patriarch Al-Rahi thanked Minister Shoukry for Egypt’s continuous support to  Lebanon and its people, especially during times of crises, the last of which the ill-fated Beirut Port blast.

Most importantly, the pair saw eye-to-eye on the need to accelerate the formation of a government that would be able to work on the required reforms and that would pave the way for regional and international support for Lebanon.
