LEBANON ARMY, UNIFIL INVESTIGATE ROCKET LAUNCHES AT ISRAEL

United Nations peacekeepers and Lebanese Army soldiers launched Tuesday an investigation into the firing of several rockets at Israel from south Lebanon.

The UNIFIL issued a statement this morning, indicating that “at four o’clock in the morning, the UNIFIL radar monitored the firing of rockets from the northwest area of Qalila towards Israel and then spotted artillery fire from the Israeli army.”

The UNIFIL also noted in its statement that it was in direct contact with the Lebanese army and Israel to “urge maximum restraint and avoid further escalation,” noting that it had launched an investigation into the incident.

The Lebanese Army also issued a communiqué, saying that “Israel fired on the Wadi al-Hamul area at dawn, with no casualties or damage were reported.”

The army added that “three Grad rocket launchers were found in the Al-Qulaylah area, one of them with a missile prepared for firing, and was then disabled by specialized army units.”
