Beirut: Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam has issued a strong statement condemning the actions of Israel in southern Lebanon, emphasizing that Lebanon's sovereignty and the security of its citizens cannot be compromised. In remarks made on his X account, he highlighted the non-negotiable right of southerners to return to their land and rebuild their villages.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Prime Minister Salam criticized the ongoing activities in the villages of Mansouri, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Kfar Tebnit, and other southern towns, where Israel has been conducting attacks, incursions, and bulldozing operations. These actions have led to the systematic destruction of homes, residential neighborhoods, infrastructure, government facilities, and places of worship, which the Prime Minister described as a significant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
Prime Minister Salam refuted Israel's justification that the destruction is due to the presence of military facilities. He argued that the nature of the targeted sites contradicts such claims. He stated that labeling entire villages, including homes, neighborhoods, government buildings, public facilities, places of worship, and infrastructure, as 'military facilities' is illogical and cannot justify the destruction, displacement of residents, and prevention of their return.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Lebanon's sovereignty, the security of its people, and the right of southerners to return and rebuild are fundamental and non-negotiable principles. He urged for the cessation of these activities and the respect of international laws to ensure the safety and rights of the Lebanese people.
