Minister of Culture, Mohammad Daoud, met in Geneva with, Ernesto Otton, Unesco’s Assistant Director-General for Culture, with whom he gave an overview of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry and the Organization and the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two parties, “We are ready to give our full support,” he said.
Daoud expressed Lebanon’s desire to stimulate the cultural sector at various levels through the implementation of a five-year plan.
“Lebanon is currently working to update the list of national heritage that will be sent to Unesco,” he said, adding that preparations are underway for the development of a dossier on the international fair of Tripoli.
For his part, Otton invited Daoud to attend the meeting of the Ministers of Culture in China on June 10 and 11, titled “Culture and Rural Development 2030”.
Minister Daoud is currently in Geneva to take part in the international conference organized by Unesco in co-operation with the Swiss Government on the theme of the Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention.
