Prime Minister Saad Hariri issued on Wednesay the following statement:
“Perhaps it is not a coincidence that today, on the 13th anniversary of March 14, 2005, I am going to Rome on the head of a Lebanese delegation to attend an international conference for the support of the Lebanese army and the security forces, the protectors of sovereignty and stability in Lebanon.
Consolidating the state, Lebanon’s sovereignty and freedom were the demands that brought together more than a million Lebanese citizen, who took the squares on that historic day, thirteen years ago. Today, we continue the struggle to achieve these demands, from all positions and in all governmental, political and electoral endeavors.
March 14 started with the Martyrdom of Martyr Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, and became a turning point that cannot be erased from the hearts of the Lebanese, who aspire for the establishment of the state of justice and stability, and from the heart of the Future movement.
This date will remain a milestone in Lebanon’s history, a symbol of freedom, sovereignty and rejection of hegemony and tutelage, and a bridge to reach the state and the will of legitimacy that is above all wills.
We express today our respect and appreciation to the huge number of Lebanese citizens who poured to the heart of Beirut to write one the purest pages in Lebanon’s history.
The March 14th martyrs wrote with their blood the epic of defending Lebanon’s dignity, freedom and independent decision, to confirm that the symbolism of this day transcends the interests of parties and sects.”
