The Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc on Thursday deprecated the fresh U.S. sanctions against MP Gebran Bassil as “political calumny” and a “hostility.”

“Putting the name of minister Gebran Bassil and other Lebanese ministers on the list of sanctions is political calumny, nay a hostility and an unjust procedure,” the bloc said in a statement issued following its weekly meeting in Haret Hreik.

“The U.S. administration must bear the legal and moral responsibility of any negative impact on those names, at least outside the USA,” the bloc added.

Commenting on the U.S. presidential elections, the bloc said: “America’s growing predicament cannot be solved by a change of presidents; it rather requires the modification of strategic policies.”

On a different note, the bloc called for speeding up the formation of the new government.
