Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk on Monday held a meeting with the Electoral Supervisory Committee, who briefed him on the Committee’s work plan and preparations underway for the upcoming legislative elections.

Minister Machnouk underlined the Committee’s essential and crucial role in enhancing confidence in the electoral process.

Machnouk also informed Committee members that their new headquarters will be inaugurated very soon.

Speaking on emerging, Authority head Judge Nadim Abdel Malak said that they briefed the Minister on the Committee’s tasks and work, describing the meeting as “constructive, fruitful and successful.”

Abdel Malak said that they also discussed coordination and cooperation between the Ministry and the Committee.

On the other hand, Machnouk met with US Ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard, with talks reportedly touching on the Ministry’s underway preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections and for the Rome-2 Conference.

Ambassador Richard underlined the importance of this Conference as an opportunity to provide further support to the Lebanese army and the Internal Security Forces.

Machnouk also met with the UAE Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, with talks reportedly touching on the bilateral ties and means of bolstering them at the various levels.
