Beirut:MP Fouad Makhzoumi expressed his approval of US President Donald Trump's decision to remove air transport restrictions involving Lebanon. He believes this development could lead to the resumption of direct flights between the two nations.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Makhzoumi acknowledged President Joseph Aoun's role in promoting the initiative. He suggested that the decision could enhance Lebanese-American relations, strengthen connections with the Lebanese diaspora, and create new economic possibilities for Lebanon.

Makhzoumi stressed the importance of Lebanon responding with tangible measures, such as disarming Hezbollah, ensuring the state's sole authority over weapons and security decisions, and implementing overdue financial and institutional reforms.

He urged an end to political obstructionism and selective reform efforts, which he argued have prioritized narrow interests over the well-being of the Lebanese people. He also called for the establishment of clear timelines and accountability for individuals hindering the nation's progress.

Finally, Makhzoumi emphasized the need for a sovereign state that safeguards the rights of its citizens, recovers their bank deposits, and prioritizes the country's future over any militia or foreign influence.
