Beirut: Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati engaged in significant diplomatic discussions with the Qatari and Polish ambassadors at the Grand Serail on Monday.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Mikati’s first meeting was with Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani. The ambassador highlighted Qatar’s ongoing humanitarian support to Lebanon, revealing that 21 planes carrying over 100 tons of aid have already arrived in the country. He also conveyed Qatar’s congratulations to the Prime Minister on the recent ceasefire and reiterated Qatar’s continued backing for Lebanon. The ambassador expressed optimism about the return of Qatari tourists to Lebanon, suggesting a return to normalcy. While questioned about Qatar’s potential role in Lebanon’s post-war reconstruction, he indicated that discussions have not yet reached that stage, focusing primarily on immediate humanitarian assistance.
Subsequently, Mikati met with Poland’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Aleksandra Bukowska McCabe, who
was on a protocol visit. The day also included talks with Deputy Prime Minister Saade Chami, where they discussed the latest developments affecting the nation.
