MIKATI VISITS PATRIARCH ABSI, URGES PRESIDENT ELECTION

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, Youssef Absi, on Wednesdays, in the presence of Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports George Kallas and Tripoli Archbishop Edouard Daher.

Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Mikati said that talks with the prelate touched on the current social and political situation in the country.

“We stressed the importance of electing a president of the republic as soon as possible,” said the Prime Minister.

“The course of salvation begins with the president election and then with the formation of a new government that shall enact the required reforms,” he added.
