Beirut: Speaking after the Cabinet session at the Grand Serail chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, Minister of Information, Attorney Paul Morcos, stated that "the Prime Minister had requested that the necessary measures be taken to prevent any military or security activity by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in Lebanon, in preparation for their deportation."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Morcos added that Prime Minister Salam addressed accusations that the Lebanese government is aligning with Israeli demands, labeling them as irresponsible. Salam emphasized that the real wrongdoing was committed by those who have involved Lebanon in risky endeavors serving external interests, and cautioned against accusations of treason that incite discord.
The Cabinet's discussions also covered recent developments and their impact on various sectors, focusing on social issues and the displacement crisis. The Minister of Social Affairs presented data showing 90,000 displaced persons, approximately twenty thousand families, with around 420 shelters opened, most of them in schools. The capacity in Beirut had reached about 78%, prompting the need to consider other areas.
The health-related impact was also addressed, with the Minister of Health reporting 77 deaths and 527 injuries, totaling 604 casualties. The Minister of Economy assured the availability of essential supplies in the market, with each minister detailing efforts undertaken by their respective ministries.
Additionally, the Cabinet suspended the work of the Lebanese-Syrian Supreme Council and approved the appointment of members to the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council. It was also decided that daily ministerial meetings will be held at the Grand Serail from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to monitor developments.
