Sanayeh:The National Library in Sanayeh recently hosted the opening of the "Between the Lines of the Constitution" exhibition, marking the centenary of Lebanon's 1926 Constitution. The event was inaugurated by Minister of Culture Dr. Ghassan Salamé, supported by Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, and attended by various official and diplomatic figures.
According to the National news agency - Lebanon, Dr. Salamé emphasized the exhibition's role in promoting constitutional awareness among young people, highlighting the state's role as the guarantor of their rights and freedoms. He noted that more than half of the displayed documents are being exhibited for the first time, sourced from the National Archives, the Archives of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Oriental Library.
The exhibition provides a historical overview of the Lebanese Constitution from its inception in 1926 to the present, detailing the amendments made in response to changing local and regional dynamics. It also honors key figures involved in the drafting, preservation, and dissemination of the Constitution, showcasing a range of historical materials, including archives, photographs, and newspaper articles. This collection aims to contextualize the Constitution within Lebanon's broader historical and social transformations.
"Between the Lines of the Constitution" invites visitors to explore the text that defines the Lebanese people's rights, duties, and political framework. It remains open to the public at the National Library in Sanayeh, Wednesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., until the end of the year.
