MINISTER OF HEALTH ISSUES DECISION SETTING USD RATE FOR UNSUBSIDIZED MEDICINES AT 80% OF MARKET EXCHANGE RATE

Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hamad Hassan, on Thursday held a meeting during which he announced the final formula that has been decided upon with regard to unsubsidized medicines.

Accordingly, Hassan issued a decision setting the USD exchange rate for unsubsidized medicines at 80% of the market exchange rate in Lebanon for a period not exceeding the end of this year (31 -12-2021).

Minister Hassan stressed the need to adhere to the agreed-upon formula, which he described as fair.

He hoped that importers would swiftly work to secure unsubsidized medicines, many of which are missing in the Lebanese market, thus contributing to alleviating the medicine shortage crisis.
