Beirut: Information Minister, Paul Morcos, on Monday met with the Middle East representative of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, Levon Amirjanyan, to discuss media-related cooperation and efforts to combat disinformation.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Morcos said he received the Francophonie mission's assessment report, which recommends adopting a modern media law currently under parliamentary review. Discussions also focused on organizing training programs for journalists, social media influencers, and content creators to promote responsible communication and counter misinformation.
Amirjanyan highlighted previous cooperation with the Ministry of Information and UNESCO on media literacy and fact-checking initiatives. He noted that the report also recommends strengthening awareness campaigns and expanding media and information literacy programs in Lebanon.
