Beirut: Information Minister, Paul Morcos, on Monday met with International Committee of the Red Cross delegation head Agnes Dhur and senior ICRC officials to follow up on cooperation aimed at enhancing the protection of journalists during conflicts and wars.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, discussions reportedly focused on developing mechanisms to improve journalist safety, strengthen emergency response procedures, expand professional safety and self-protection training, and enhance communication channels to reduce risks faced by media personnel in conflict zones.
The two sides also reviewed the detainee and prisoner file and discussed continuing joint public awareness campaigns through media outlets and public platforms to promote personal safety.
Morcos stressed that the ministry is committed to protecting all journalists without discrimination, regardless of their political views, and ensuring rapid assistance when needed.
