Beirut: Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, on Thursday chaired the daily ministerial meeting at the Grand Serail, attended by several ministers, Mount Lebanon Governor, Judge Muhammad Makawi, the head of the Higher Relief Authority, Brigadier General Bassam Nabulsi, the head of the Council of the South, Hashem Haidar, and the head of the Disaster Risk Management Unit, Zahi Shahin, to follow up on the displacement needs and shelter and relief efforts. The meeting also reviewed the general situation, especially the military updates and the repercussions of Israeli attacks.
According to National Nws Aency - Lebanon, following the session, Information Minister Paul Morcos said that the meeting mainly focused on the issue of displacement and its repercussions, adding that the attendees listened to a briefing by representatives of the Higher Relief Commission, the Council of the South, and the Disaster Management Risk Unit, on the mechanism for delivering and distributing food and medical aid, especially those generously provided by the brotherly Arab countries, as well as the distribution of local supplies, particularly diesel fuel to frontline villages.
Minister Morcos added: "The Prime Minister reaffirmed the need to coordinate efforts and avoid duplication, emphasizing full transparency." Each minister also presented the efforts of his respective ministry, including presentations by the Minister of Social Affairs, Hanin El Sayed, and the Minister of National Defense, Major General Michel Menassa, who briefed the meeting on the Israeli attacks and the situation along the Lebanese-Syrian border. The Minister of State for Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Kamal Shehadeh, also outlined cyber risks facing state institutions and ways to address them.
Based on the intervention of the Minister of Information, attendees were briefed on the outcome of the media meeting held yesterday at the Ministry of Information with the participation of various audio-visual and print media outlets, during which a set of general principles in this sensitive phase in Lebanon was agreed upon, most notably: adherence to the highest levels of professional and national responsibility; refraining from publishing any inciting or divisive content, carefully verifying information before publication; adopting responsible media discourse that preserves civil peace; strengthening unity and solidarity among the Lebanese, particularly through supporting displaced persons.
