President Aoun received the head of Editors’ Syndicate, Joseph Al-Kosseifi, today at the Presidential Palace, and discussed with him trade union and media affairs.
President Michel Aoun confirmed his adherence to media freedom and the importance of media commitment to responsibility and objectivity during the performance of their missions, “Especially in the current delicate conditions that Lebanon is going through”.
For his side, Kosseifi quoted President Aoun saying “The doors of the Presidency of the Republic are open to the media, to whom the President has every appreciation, in order to inform them of what is happening in our country”.
Kosseifi also stated that President Aoun gives special attention to the demands of the media.
President Aoun met the Chairman of the Economic and Social Council, Charles Arbeed, in the presence of former Minister, Salim Jreisatti.
The President discussed the work of the Council, in light of the current situation, on socio-economic levels. The necessity of adopting bailout plans for the sectors of trade, tourism, agriculture, industry and technology was also tackled where Mr. Arbeed stressed the necessity of a participatory process in decision-making, at the level of production sectors.
The meeting also tackled the importance of addressing the educational issue and what is related to school conditions, in light of the crisis facing the Lebanese educational sector.
