Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri sent his condolences to French President Emmanuel Macron on the death of former French President Valerie Giscard d’Estaing.
“France, like Lebanon, is losing today a distinguished political figure, a parliamentarian and a leaders who worked until the last minute of his life to establish the values of freedom, equality and brotherhood. We are losing a distinguished personality who worked sincerely to consolidate the relations of cooperation and partnership between the two friendly countries and peoples, in the darkest of circumstances. (…) In my name and on behalf of the Lebanese Parliament, I extend my sincere condolences to yourself, to the friendly French people, and to the family of the deceased, wishing you and France continued progress and stability,” the telegram read.
