Media figure Marcel Ghanem and his lawyer, Deputy Boutros Harb, visited the Justice Palace in Baabda to appear before the first investigating judge in Mount Lebanon, Nicolas Mansour, the NNA correspondent said.
Prominent figures arrived at the Baabda Palace of Justice in support of Ghanem, among them Minister of Public Works, Youssef Fanianos, MP Ghazi Aridi, former MP Fares Soaid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation, Pierre Daher, Media Commissioner of the Progressive Socialist Party Rami Rayes and media figure May Chediac.
“The prosecution, which is not based on a legal reason, is sheer political and represents a challenge to the freedom of the media and opinion,” MP Harb said from outside the Palace of Justice.
“We have not resorted to appeal because we saw it was better to face the truth, and we are betting that the judiciary will be fair to Ghanem and will restore our democratic system, oppression free,” the MP assured.
