Beirut: In a session chaired by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab and attended by Director General of the Ministry of Information Dr. Hassan Falha, the joint parliamentary committees approved a draft law subjecting contractors at the Ministry of Information to the national retirement framework. The proposal aims to align the rights of ministry contractors with those of full-time public employees by granting them access to retirement benefits.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the decision marks a significant step toward providing equal retirement benefits to contractors, ensuring they receive similar treatment as their full-time counterparts. The draft law, once enacted, will extend the same retirement privileges that full-time public employees currently enjoy to the contractors working for the Ministry of Information.

The move is expected to impact a substantial number of contractors within the ministry, who have previously been excluded from the retirement benefits available to regular employees. This legislative change is seen as a move towards standardizing employment benefits within government institutions.
