Beirut: Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam chaired a central meeting to initiate recovery projects in designated pilot zones, marking the first phase of the South Lebanon Return and Recovery Plan. This strategic meeting aimed at addressing critical infrastructure needs and facilitating the return of displaced residents.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting brought together significant figures including Minister of National Defense Michel Menassa, Minister of Social Affairs Haneen El Sayed, Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny, and other key governmental and military leaders. The discussions emphasized collaboration among ministries and government bodies to ensure the successful execution of the plan.

Prime Minister Salam underscored the urgency of coordination to overcome field obstacles and instructed the holding of regular follow-up meetings at the Grand Serail. These meetings aim to monitor the progress and ensure the timely removal of rubble, reopening of roads, and restoration of essential services.

The focus of the recovery effort is to provide prefabricated housing units to facilitate the swift return of residents to their homes. Additionally, Salam prioritized the reconstruction of the bridge connecting Qaqaiyat al-Jisr to Froun, a crucial link for easing the movement of citizens and reconnecting southern communities.

The relevant authorities have been tasked with drafting comprehensive plans to accelerate the recovery projects, ensuring that the initiatives meet the urgent needs of the affected areas and support the dignified return of residents to their communities.
