Berri welcomes Pope Francis visit to Arab region

House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Friday cabled Pope Francis, welcoming his visit to the Arab region.

“We have received with great joy the news of your blessed visit to our troubled Arab region, in the hope that peace, dialogue and justice will prevail,” Berri said in his cable.

“I hope that your next visits and travel programs will include Lebanon,” Berri corroborated.

On the other hand, Berri received an Iranian parliamentary delegation in Ain el-Tineh, chaired by Shura Council cultural committee chairman Sheikh Ali Mazeni, in the presence of Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Jalal Virouzina.

Talks reportedly touched on most recent developments, bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
