Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Thursday received a briefing from Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Tarek Mitri about the discussions and resolutions of the Development Financing Summit recently held in Seville, Spain.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Dr. Mitri conveyed outcomes from his meetings with several heads of participating Arab and international delegations. He explained that the conference focused on addressing the debt crisis and aligning donor countries’ policies with Sustainable Development Goals, alongside enhancing private sector involvement with the public sector in financing development. Dr. Mitri also delivered Lebanon’s speech at the summit.

In related developments, President Aoun met with the Head of the Iraqi Mission to Lebanon, Mr. Mohammad Redha Al-Husseini, at Baabda Palace. Mr. Al-Husseini conveyed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening and developing Lebanese-Iraqi relations across various sectors, reflecting outcomes from President Aoun’s recent visit to Baghdad, where he met with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani.

Additionally, President Aoun welcomed Algerian Ambassador to Lebanon, Kamel Bouchama, for discussions on bilateral relations and their development across various fields. They also touched on preparations for President Aoun’s upcoming official visit to Algeria, invited by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. President Aoun affirmed the strong Lebanese-Algerian relations and appreciated Algeria’s support for Lebanon in regional and international forums, particularly within the UN Security Council.

On the political front, President Aoun received a delegation from the Social Democrat Hunchak Party, led by its Executive Committee Chairman, Mr. Vanig Dakessian, to discuss the current political situation. Mr. Dakessian stated that the delegation congratulated President Aoun on his election and expressed their full support for his efforts to rescue Lebanon. They emphasized the importance of restoring confidence in the state, addressing economic and social crises, preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty, and supporting the army and security forces to strengthen national unity amidst challenges.
