Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Beshara Boutros Al-Rahi, received today former President Amin Gemayel, who described the words of the Patriarch during this morning’s Mass service as “the best of words.”

“Today, we can only work on how to save the people from their social misery,” he said.

Gemayel believed that “it is necessary to return on the political level to the Baabda Agreement instead of resorting to dialogues and devising projects from here and there…”

“Dialogue takes an excuse not to find a solution at a time when it is required to return to the foundation and rally around the concepts that pave the way for true peace,” Gemayel underscored.

He added: “The agreed upon points exist and it is necessary to develop our effort to solve and work according to conscience, and this is what saves Lebanon.”

In response to a question about the caretaker government holding cabinet sessions, President Gemayel warned of a plan aimed at disrupting the nation’s march, saying: “They innovate heresies so that the presidential vacuum becomes a natural thing.”
