Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Friday engaged in a series of strategic discussions at Baabda Palace, beginning with a meeting with MP Melhem Riachy, who was delegated by Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea. Their discussion focused on the vital role of the army during the current critical phase in Lebanon’s history.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the dialogue between President Aoun and MP Riachy also included the pressing issue of displaced persons from areas affected by Israeli bombing. They further addressed the topic of extending Parliament’s mandate and the Lebanese Forces’ position on this matter.
In a separate meeting, President Aoun met with former MP Emile Rahme to discuss the prevailing situation in the country. Rahme expressed his support for President Aoun’s stances, particularly those articulated during his visit to the Ministry of National Defense and the Army Command.
Additionally, President Aoun received a phone call from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, focusing on the latest regional developments and the ongoing Israeli assaults on Lebanon. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support for Lebanon, its government, people, and army. He also conveyed the Egyptian people’s solidarity with Lebanon in overcoming the challenges they face.
President El-Sisi informed President Aoun that Egypt has decided to dispatch humanitarian aid to Lebanon, aiming to bolster efforts assisting displaced persons who have been forced to flee their homes due to the Israeli attacks.
