Dushanbe: Russian President Vladimir Putin has met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting was held at the Kokhi Somon government residence in Dushanbe.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned that the Kremlin hopes the two heads of state will “discuss the current state of bilateral relations and address existing issues.”
The previous full-scale meeting between Putin and Aliyev took place in October 2024 on the sidelines of the CIS Heads of State Council meeting. Furthermore, as Putin noted, the two leaders were able to have a quick word on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, China. On October 7, Aliyev warmly congratulated Putin on his birthday by telephone after more than a six-month pause in personal communication.
