Beirut: Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, held a series of official meetings on Tuesday aimed at reinforcing collaboration with international development institutions, energy leaders, and Lebanese parliamentarians. The discussions focused on infrastructure rehabilitation, sustainable development, and governance reform.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Rasamny first met with a World Bank delegation led by Catherine Tovey, Practice Manager, to discuss ongoing coordination with Lebanese authorities. The discussions highlighted the progress of the Emergency Assistance for Lebanon project, with Tovey emphasizing recent consultations with stakeholders and the Bank’s commitment to supporting debris removal, infrastructure rehabilitation, and sustainable reconstruction.
In another meeting, Rasamny engaged with a European Union delegation, including Alessandra Viezzer, Head of Cooperation, and Stefano Panighetti, Program Manager for Local Governance and Energy, alongside EU Ambassador to Lebanon Sandra De Waele. Talks focused on the EU’s support for the Ministry’s reform initiatives and future institutional and sectoral reforms.
On the same day, Rasamny met with Adrien Bechonnet, Managing Director and Country Chair of TotalEnergies in Lebanon, to discuss the company’s renewable energy initiatives, particularly in the solar energy sector. Their conversation explored TotalEnergies’ ongoing operations and strategic vision in Lebanon, along with collaboration opportunities with local partners in alternative energy solutions.
Rasamny also welcomed representatives from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), both part of the World Bank Group. The meeting included a presentation on the Ministry’s development roadmap and efforts to attract international investment in critical infrastructure sectors.
On the domestic front, Rasamny held discussions with Member of Parliament Salim Al Sayegh regarding developments in Beirut and the broader needs of the capital. He also met with MP Mohammad Sleiman to review regional development concerns under the Ministry’s jurisdiction.
