Beirut: Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, on Tuesday evening held an urgent call with Director General of Land and Maritime Transport, Ahmad Tamer, during which he issued strict directives to take all immediate precautionary measures, in light of threats concerning the evacuation of the maritime area stretching between Naqoura and Tyre, and in the interest of safeguarding fishermen and civilians.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Rasamny emphasized the necessity for the stringent implementation of preventive measures and noted that direct coordination had been established with the Lebanese Navy to ensure the protection of fishermen and the preservation of public safety.
In response to the threats, the competent authorities have begun enforcing several measures, including the prohibition of fishing activities. Fishermen are now barred from sailing or departing from the fishermen's port in Tyre until further notice. Additionally, there is increased monitoring of maritime movement within the affected area to mitigate any potential risks.
The ministry recalled that based on prior directives from the minister, preemptive measures had already been initiated to evacuate all vessels from the concerned area, particularly in Rashidiyeh, as part of the adopted preventive strategies.
Fishermen have been urged to fully comply with the instructions issued by the relevant authorities to ensure their safety while awaiting further developments.
