Former Prime Minister Tammam Salam contacted this afternoon Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian, congratulating him on the results of the Mufti elections in Tripoli, Akkar, Zahle, Rashaya, Baalbek-Hermel, and Hasbaya-Marjeyoun districts, “in a way that strengthens the national Islamic march under the leadership of His Eminence, who is keen on unity and institutional work within Dar al-Fatwa and its role and religious responsibilities and patriotism.”

Salam also congratulated the elected muftis, wishing them “success in their pastoral, religious and national duties.”
