Beirut: Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salam©, met with Dr. Elie Flouti, the representative of the World Monuments Fund in the Arab world, at his office in the National Library-Sanayeh. Architect Jad Tabet was also present during the meeting, which focused on enhancing collaboration with the Ministry concerning cultural heritage.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Dr. Flouti expressed his appreciation for Minister Salam©’s efforts in preserving Lebanese heritage, describing it as an essential part of the country’s identity and civilization. He emphasized the World Monuments Fund’s dedication to both tangible and intangible human heritage and expressed hopes for expanded cooperation with Lebanon, a nation rich in antiquities and culture. Dr. Flouti also expressed a desire for future meetings with Minister Salam© to leverage his expertise and aspirations in heritage preservation.
Additionally, Minister Salam© met with the President of the National Heritage Foundation, Ms. Mona Hrawi, and committee member Lama Salam. Their discussions revolved around general cultural affairs and the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry and the Foundation on various activities.
Dr. Hashem Sarkis, Dean of the College of Engineering and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, was another visitor to Minister Salam©. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss Dr. Sarkis’s projects in Lebanon and his interest in cooperating with the Ministry.
