SALAM HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE OVER BASIC COMMODITIES’ PRICES REDUCTION

Trade and Economy Minister, Amin Salam, on Thursday stressed that the ministry has put into effect a mechanism to reduce the prices of basic commodities, noting that the syndicates of supermarket owners and importers of foodstuffs in Lebanon have committed to start reducing prices for these commodities.

Minister Salam also underlined that the ministry will not be lenient in this issue and will be firm in monitoring these prices.

Minister Salam’s fresh words came during a press conference he held today in his office at the ministry, in the presence of Food Importers’ Syndicate Head, Hani Bohsali, head of the Syndicate of Supermarket Owners, Nabil Fahed, and the Ministry’s Director General, Mohammed Abou Haidar, during which he announced the implementation mechanism to reduce the prices of basic commodities.
