Beirut: Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem delivered a significant speech on Monday, marking the anniversary of martyred leaders Sheikh Ragheb Harb, Sayyed Abbas Al-Moussawi, and Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, emphasizing the continuation of the resistance path. Sheikh Qassem reiterated Hezbollah’s stance as a national, patriotic, Islamic, and humanitarian resistance movement, asserting that ‘Israel’ is an expansionist entity with plans to occupy all of Palestine and the entire region.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem criticized the Israeli enemy for disregarding agreements, referencing “Oslo” and “Madrid” as examples. He highlighted the severe situation in Gaza, where Israel occupies 60% of the Strip and conducts daily attacks on the remaining areas. Sheikh Qassem also expressed concern about the Israeli annexation of the West Bank, labeling it as an underestimated threat.
He accused the US administration of being complicit in Israeli actions in Gaza and criticized former President Trump’s unwavering support for Israeli crimes. Sheikh Qassem raised questions about the actions of Zionist settlers and Israeli soldiers, suggesting a hidden agenda of genocide behind certain military operations.
Sheikh Qassem placed responsibility on the Lebanese government to confront Israeli aggression and safeguard national sovereignty. He criticized the government’s concessions, warning that these could embolden the enemy. He urged rejection of foreign aid demands, as long as Israel does not comply with the ceasefire concluded in 2024.
Sheikh Qassem reaffirmed Hezbollah’s position, stating that while Hezbollah does not seek war, it is prepared to defend Lebanon against any Israeli aggression. He emphasized the resilience of the resistance over 15 months of Israeli aggression, asserting its capability to inflict damage on the enemy.
Hezbollah’s leader called for national unity in Lebanon and urged the government to implement the ceasefire. Sheikh Qassem advocated for supporting the Lebanese Army and cautioned against US-Arab influence. He emphasized patience but hinted that the battlefield will ultimately determine the outcome of the current stage.
In closing, Sheikh Qassem urged the Lebanese government to halt discussions about arms exclusivity in Lebanon and called for regular meetings on national defense. He questioned the government’s concessions and encouraged a focus on defending Lebanon’s sovereignty.
