SROUR DENIES CIRCULATED NEWS ABOUT INCREASE IN BREAD PRICES

In an issued statement on Sunday, the Syndicate of Bakeries’ Secretary in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, Nasser Srour, denied news circulated by some social media sites that bakeries have raised the price of a bundle of bread to 15,000 Lebanese pounds while reducing the number of bread loaves to 6, in wake of the increasing dollar exchange rates and fuel prices.

The statement stressed that bakeries adhere to the Ministry of Economy’s official pricing of LBP 14,000 for each bread bundle weighing 775 grams. It also called on the security apparatuses to track any side tampering with bread bundle weights and prices.
