Syrian Defense Ministry: Second Phase of Military Operation in Countryside and Mountains Begins

Damascus: The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, as saying that “after restoring security and stability in the coastal cities, our military forces and security services began implementing the second phase of the military operation that aims to pursue groups of the former regime in the countryside and mountains.”

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the operation marks a continued effort by the Syrian military to consolidate control over strategic regions. The focus has shifted from the coastal areas to the more rugged terrain of the countryside and mountains, which have been identified as strongholds for remnants of the former regime. The military’s objective in this phase is to dismantle any remaining opposition and ensure long-term stability in these regions.

Colonel Abdul Ghani emphasized the significance of this operation in achieving comprehensive security across the nation. The military’s strategy involves a combination of ground forces and security services working in tandem to track and neutralize threats posed by groups aligned with the former regime. The operation’s success is viewed as crucial for the ongoing peace and rebuilding efforts in Syria.

As the operation unfolds, monitoring and assessment of the situation on the ground will continue to be a priority for Syrian authorities. The Ministry of Defense remains committed to providing updates on the progress and any significant developments in this military endeavor.
