MP Boutors Harb, the lawyer of journalist Marcel Ghanem, said from Baabda courthouse on Friday that the first magistrate of Mount Lebanon, Nicolas Mansour, has decided to set Ghanem free after providing residency documents.
Harb described the interrogation session as “good”.
“We believe that the judiciary is independent and we respect the law,” he said.
For his part, journalist Marcel Ghanem said that the complaint had “no basis”. “The interrogation was not easy, but Judge Mansour was objective,” he said.
“This is a battle of freedoms that affects all journalists and all the Lebanese people. We have torpedoed attempts to domesticate the media, and we have triumphed,” Ghanem concluded.
