Two deaths, 5 injuries in polystyrene warehouse fire in Al-Juwayyidah

Two Arab nationalities charred to death and and five others suffered from shortness of breath, in a fire that broke out early Friday in a number of polystyrene warehouses in Al-Juwayyidah area, south east of Amman. East Amman Civil Defense Directorate received reports on a fire that broke out in a number of warehouses of area estimated at 2000 square meters, in addition to an outdoor yard of about 1000 square meters in the Al-Juwayyidah area, the Public Security Department (PSD) spokesperson said. Firefighters from the East Amman Civil Defense Directorate, supported by relevant agencies, rushed to the scene and worked to put out and control the fire, the PSD spokesperson said. He added that ambulance an emergency teams provided the necessary first aid to the injured onsite. Their condition was fair, and didn’t need to be transferred to the hospital, except for one injury, who was treated and transferred to the hospital, while the two deaths were evacuated to the Al-Bashir Public Hospital. Dozens of operational civil defense vehicles and cadres, and relevant agencies participated in extinguishing the fire and an investigation was initiated to find out the cause of the fire, the PSD spokesperson concluded.
