UNIFIL Soldier Injured by Landmine Explosion in Southern Lebanon

Beirut: A UNIFIL soldier was injured when a landmine exploded in the valley between Yater and Zibqin in the western sector of southern Lebanon, our reporter said on Wednesday.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the incident took place as the soldier was conducting routine operations in the area. The explosion resulted in the soldier sustaining injuries, necessitating immediate medical attention. The soldier was promptly evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

The area where the explosion occurred is known for its history of landmine contamination, a remnant of past conflicts in the region. Efforts have been ongoing to clear these mines to prevent such incidents. UNIFIL, along with local authorities, continues to work on demining operations to ensure the safety of both military personnel and local residents.
