(UPDATE) MIKATI CHAIRS MEETING ON ELECTRICITY CONUNDRUM, DISPATCHES ENERGY MINISTER TO ZAHRANI INSTALLATIONS, MEETS INTERIOR MINISTER AND CENTRAL BANK GOVERNOR

Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Monday chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail, devoted to discussing the power outage.

The meeting took place in presence of Energy Minister Walid Fayad, Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, and EDL Director General Kamal Hayek.

Following the meeting, Premier Mikati has delegated Energy Minister Walid Fayad to head to Zahrani oil installations to inspect the fire that erupted earlier this morning.

On the other hand, Mikati met with a delegation of ambassadors of the Scandinavian countries, which included the ambassadors of Sweden, Finland and Denmark, as well as deputy head of the Norwegian mission.

Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation and the current developments, as well as the means to assist Lebanon at these difficult conditions.

Mikati later met with Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Haidar Al-Barrak, accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Amin AbdulIlah Al-Nasrawi, with whom he discussed the current general situation.

Separately, Mikati met with Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi, and Internal Security Forces (ISF) Chief Imad Othman, with discussions reportedly touching on the current security situation in the country and ISF related affairs.

The Prime Minister also held a meeting with Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, who briefed him on the monetary situation and the measures taken by the Banque du Liban.
