The deputy in the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, commended the Netherlands’ move to reopen its embassy in Libya.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Al-Lafi, during his meeting yesterday with Dutch Vice Foreign Minister Paul Huijts in the presence of the Dutch Ambassador to Libya, Dolf Hogewoning, discussed developments of the political track in Libya, and the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Al-Lafi praised the Netherlands’ role in supporting Libya’s stability through supporting the national reconciliation project as a member of the Working Group on International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights emanating from the Berlin Conference, stressing the importance of consensus among all parties to the political process to reach the stage of stability.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Huijts appreciated the efforts of the Presidential Council in making the national reconciliation project a success and its work with all parties of the political process to achieve the electoral benefits that the Libyan people aspire to, provide factors for its success, and accept its results from all parties, expressing his country’s confidence in the role of the Presidential Council in achieving stability in Libya.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Kingdom of the Netherlands officially opened its embassy in Libya yesterday, to carry out its diplomatic duties from Tripoli, in the presence of Huijts and a number of Libyan officials and foreign ambassadors accredited to Libya.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Huijts stressed his country’s desire to enhance relations of joint cooperation and contribute to efforts to achieve peace and stability in Libya.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He said that his visit to Libya aims to establish strong relations, participate with the Libyan people, and support the efforts of Libya and the UN in their pursuit of lasting peace through inclusive elections, reiterating his country’s support for the efforts of the Presidential Council and the African Union to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation in Libya, praising in the same context the role of civil society institutions in consolidating efforts to bring peace and stability to the Libyan people.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Dutch official explained that Libya and the Netherlands have close relations of cooperation in the political and commercial areas, and they have a major role in enhancing cooperation between the African and European continents as they are two important gateways to enhance trade exchanges, as Libya is an entry point to Africa and the Netherlands an entry point to Europe, and they look forward to consolidating the principles of freedom, peace, and fruitful cooperation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
