Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, arrived in Beirut today accompanied by a senior Hamas delegation, on an official visit as part of the series of visits initiated by the Movement’s leadership at the beginning of this month.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Upon arrival at Rafic Hariri International Airport, Haniyeh held a press conference in which he said: “This visit comes within the framework of investing the great victory of the resistance in the \u2018Battle of the Sword of Jerusalem\u2019. The visit to Lebanon always acquires special significance, as it is an opportunity to meet with state officials, starting with the presidency, the parliament, and the premiership, in addition to the leaders of the Palestinian factions, the resistance forces, the Lebanese parties and dignitaries, and the Palestinian people in the steadfastness and return camps.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He indicated that his discussions in Beirut will touch on dossiers of common interest, starting with bilateral relations, and how to work on coordinating and developing them to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples, in addition to tackling the political developments that resulted from the Palestinian people\u2019s victory in the Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
“There will also be a discussion of the Israeli measures that are still ongoing in Jerusalem and the occupied territories, with emphasis on the principles of the Palestinian people, in particular the right of return, rejection of settlement and of an alternative homeland,” Haniyeh added. “These political constants are rooted in the literature of the Hamas Movement, the Palestinian people and the resistance, and completely intersect with the literature of Lebanon, officially and popularly,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Haniyeh concluded by reiterating “the Movement’s adherence to the right of return to all the land of Palestine, and its rejection of settlement and an alternative homeland.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
