Minister of National Defense, Maurice Sleem, on Thursday welcomed UNIFIL Commander, General Stefano Del Col, who paid him a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Sleem commended the role played by General Del Col, and the relentless efforts he exerted during his tenure as head of UNIFIL mission in southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, Minister Sleem noted “the close cooperation between UNIFIL and the Lebanese army, and the mutual trust that had been established between the international force and the residents of the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sleem also thanked the UNIFIL commander for the forces\u2019 assistance to local communities in the field of social development, as well as to the Lebanese army units in South Litani sector in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2591.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In conclusion, the Minister of Defense wished Major General Del Col “a safe return to his country and continued progress and success in his future missions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
